Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 Delhi: Arrival +

Arrive at Delhi airport and enjoy a private transfer to your hotel. Have an afternoon guided city tour, visiting the main cultural and historical sites of this fascinating city, including a cycle rickshaw ride around the old town.

Day 2 Delhi – Agra: Cycle Ride & Taj Mahal +

This morning you will transfer to Agra with your driver, where after lunch you will head to the nearby villages and take a cycle ride along the lanes, passing paddy fields and farmyard animals. Stop at a secret spot to take in the views of the Taj Mahal. Later this afternoon your local guide will take you to visit the famous Taj Mahal for sunset, a fantastic time to visit the mausoleum as the marble takes on the gold and pink hues of the sky.

Day 3 Agra – Chambal: Village Walk +

An hour or two's drive south of Agra is the rural village of Mela Kothi from where you will explore the surrounding villages and experience the wildlife on the Chambal River. Your heritage hotel is set in large gardens, great for exploring. Set out on a village walk in Holipura with a member of the community, here there are a number of traditional havelis built over the centuries and excellent examples of the region's architecture. Visit a local home for refreshments before heading back to the hotel for dinner out in the garden and an evening by the fire.

Day 4 Chambal: Boat Safari & Temples +

Head this morning to the Chambal River and board a small boat for a river safari. The calm waters of the Chambal are home to a number of birds, reptiles and mammals which your naturalist will help you to spot. Turtles, gharials and occasionally the Gangetic Dolphin can be seen as well as cranes, kingfishers, stilts, plovers, eagles, vultures, cormorants and grebes amongst others. Nearby on the banks of the Yamuna River is the town of Bateshwar, visiting this afternoon you will see the collection of more than 40 temples along the river ghats, wander along the banks to see the temples with the locals who come each day.

Day 5 Chambal – Ranthambore: Rajasthan Countryside +

You will drive through the countryside of Rajasthan today passing villages and towns on your way to Ranthambore, stop off to take photos, enjoy a cup of tea and some lunch before arriving mid-afternoon to your hotel.

Day 6 Ranthambore: Tiger Safari +

Today you will explore the wilderness of Ranthambore National Park in search of the Bengal Tiger, as you are taken on morning and afternoon game drives, accompanied by a naturalist. Ranthambore National Park is centred around the 10th century Ranthambore Fort and ruined temples which have been taken over by the wildlife. It is one of the best places in India to spot the elusive tiger, as well as many other species of wild animals including leopards, crocodiles, jackals, jungle cats and Indian Fox, and numerous species of birds, providing fantastic wildlife viewing experiences.

Day 7 Ranthambore – Jaipur: Old City +

This morning you will have your final safari giving you another chance to track and see some of India's most impressive animals. After breakfast you will journey from the wilds of Ranthambore to the colourful streets of Jaipur, enjoy some time at leisure to wander through the old city.

Day 8 Jaipur: Pink City Highlights +

Today you will spend the day immersed in the wonders of the Pink City. Explore the City Palace and Museum, and then head to Amber Fort — the jewel in Jaipur's crown — perched on a hilltop above the city. Here you will find intricately decorated rooms with mirror and mosaic inlays, galleries with hunting scenes and courtly portraits, and views across the surrounding hills that make the climb worthwhile.

Day 9 Jaipur – Pushkar: Holy Lake Town +

Drive to Pushkar, one of India's most sacred cities, set around a holy lake and famous for its ghats, temples and the surrounding desert landscape. The town is home to Brahma's only temple in India and its colourful bazaars.

Day 10 Pushkar – Jodhpur: Blue City +

Leave Pushkar and drive to Jodhpur, the Blue City. Explore the atmospheric old town with its labyrinthine lanes and distinctive blue-painted houses before visiting Mehrangarh Fort, one of India's most impressive.

Day 11 Jodhpur – Jaisalmer: Camel Country +

Drive west to the golden sandstone city of Jaisalmer. This afternoon take a camel ride through the desert landscape to a point for sunset views across the Thar Desert.

Explore the remarkable living fort city of Jaisalmer — its Jain temples, merchant havelis, royal palace and bustling bazaars — before watching the sun set behind the desert dunes.
